So for my graduate project I tested two interesting aspects of Apache Ignite. I ran Ignite on a set of machines at a lab at my college, and was able to create an in-memory cache. I read data and wrote to the cache as part of my demonstration. I also got a cache application running on my laptop that used Ignite’s automatic persistence to connect to a MySQL DB on my laptop.

So what’s next?

I’d like to get an application like the one on my laptop utilizing Apache Ignite running on a cluster of machines and compare latency¬†differences when retrieving data. I would compare the DB with Apache Ignite caching to a traditional database. I think that Apache Ignite has a lot of area to be explored, and I would also like to work with the Ignite Compute Grid!
